Smile Please tell me...as I have lots of questions.

How to shop for our next 5th wheel.

How to decipher the terminology?
RL is rear living. FL is front living.

What is "vacuum bonded walls"?

How to figure out the weights?
Our truck is rated for 17,000lbs.
We have a Reese hitch rated for 20,000lbs on sliders.

How legitimate are the stickers "rated for all seasons"?

Or the other sticker showing 1/2 sun & 1/2 winter?

We have our eye on one unit and it's 40ft nose to bumper.
How much of rig will be over the box of the truck?

Nails, staples, glue.

R40 in the roof, R38 in the floor.

Maxxair vs Fantastic fans.

Turning radius.

Yes my head is spinning!

You need to know your trucks payload to know what sort of pin weight it can handle. It's printed on the door sticker.

I look at the GVWR of the trailer. 20% - 25% of that will be the pin weight. Hopefully you have enough payload left to handle that. Once you deduct your weight and the weight of your passengers and cargo in the truck.

The trailer industry isn't very regulated so they can pretty much claim whatever they want. The insulation values or rated for all seasons don't necessarily mean much. Typically all season should mean you have good insulation all around and the furnace is ducted into the fully enclosed under belly. Sometimes passthrough and other outside storage as well.

I think about 3' or so of the fifth wheel is over the bed?

I think maxxair and fantastic fans are essential the same thing. Just large fans in the air vents versus the small fans they typically have.

enter each of those Questions into google one at a time and read the answers.

I'll pick an easy one. The entire bed of the truck will be covered by your camper so anything that sticks up is no go. Not necessarily all the time but at some point when turning or cutting to back in it will be.

I still dont know what the letters mean in my 5th wheel

You have to figure gvrw from truck and trailer. varies from make to make. I personally do not worry about weight much as i dont travel far and done have a overly heavy trailer.

How legitimate are the stickers "rated for all seasons"?

Or the other sticker showing 1/2 sun & 1/2 winter?

We have our eye on one unit and it's 40ft nose to bumper.

count on the whole thing. Typically only the back half of the bed is covered but the nose sweeps over the front part of the bed during turns.

Nails, staples, glue.
Tons of all 3 in every RV

R40 in the roof, R38 in the floor.

Maxxair vs Fantastic fans.
Maxxair is the cover than allows stock vents to be open during rain.
Fantastic fans are good electric fans. (i think)

Turning radius.
changes from truck to truck and trailer to trailer. mine sucks due to it not turning even when empty.

Vacuum bonded likely means the walls were glued together by vacuum bagging. At least, that's what it means to me in the aviation world. It's the preferred method of curing composite repairs as it compresses the material like a clamp, the pressure drop essentially boils the moisture out to be sucked up by the vacuum pump, and can be used with a heating pad to get more precise curing characteristics.

As noted above: It's away to clamp large area composite or laminated products that are typically glued together. Inside of a sealed membrane the air is removed thus allowing the surrounding ambient air pressure (14.7 psi) to press the entire surface equally.

How to figure out the weights?
Our truck is rated for 17,000lbs.
We have a Reese hitch rated for 20,000lbs on sliders.
Concern yourself almost exclusively with your trucks "payload rating" on the B-pillar sticker with tire air pressures. VS the trailers "Pin weight" when known.

How legitimate are the stickers "rated for all seasons"?
*Compare with a grain of salt as with all ratings.

Or the other sticker showing 1/2 sun & 1/2 winter?
* more of the same, could be it does neither season well??

We have our eye on one unit and it's 40ft nose to bumper.
Generally 5ers are measured from the rear bumper to the pin. The nose-cap would be an OA overall measurement.
How much of rig will be over the box of the truck?
This may vary widely from brand / model. Generally from just ahead of the rear axle (centered under the pin) plus the amount of nose-cap installed. This varies as manufacture's lure short bed p/u's.

Nails, staples, glue.
Nails, staples leave much to be desired rolling down the road without glue.

R40 in the roof, R38 in the floor.
* Leaves one skeptical next to a slide seal with a gap or a R-1 single glazed window. Obviously more is better particularly on roof. But misleading.

Maxxair vs Fantastic fans.
Both are quality roof vent fans, quiet, decent CFM, durable. Strong following for both. We have 3)ea. MaxXAir, very pleased.

Turning radius.
YMWV, HD LWB trucks are not noted as having the tightest circles. Seems F-450 "used" to have an edge w/ it's wide front axle?? Not so much trailer dependent more tending to be a skill issue.

Yes my head is spinning!
Keep up the research. The only dumb question is one that doesn't get asked.
