I just installed a new Prodigy brake controller. I followed all instructions/directions possible without hooking up to the trailer. My question is there is a dot/period that stays luminated, is this normal? It does go out after a period of time, put during truck use it stays on. I checked the troubleshooting chart and all instructions and it does'nt say anything about it. I figured I'd ask the field experts before i call tech support monday. Thanks for the help.

Harley2,

There is a red LED light that stays on, it's the one located just above the 'O' in the Prodigy label. After several minutes of the truck being turned off the Prodigy will go to 'sleep' and then the light goes out preventing battery drain.

If you depress the brake pedal it 'wakes up' and the light comes back on. In all likelihood, your installation is correct....you'll love the Prodigy.

If I remember correctly that light is for one of the compesnation factors, in other words yo have it setup to apply a higher percentage of power to the brakes than normal.

You did nothing wrong, the dots are normal. he go off after a short time, after you shut the truck off, then the prodigy goes to sleep.

They weren't very clear on this, but in the owners manual, it says it will display two dots when power is applied, but no trailer is connected.

These two dots will remain on for ~15 minutes, then it will go into a power saving mode, and the display will go blank.

This is exactly how mine works.

I get the impression that the new models might only have one light.

I have 2, but neither are about the "o".

Bought my Prodigy late last year, but maybe they have a newer model...

Mine stares at me everyday, so I'm certain about the 2 LEDs with mine.

Anyone confirm that they now only have one dot?

Mine shows two LEDs. I think the one on the righ is associated with the booster being used. I tapped the booster until it was cleared and the display went back to only one-the one over the "o".

After the first trip with the Prodigy, I did a set up per the instructions and am very satisfied with the performance of the Prodigy. After initial set up with trailer attached now I have two led lights like everyone mentions so it seems everything is working as designed and I'm happy with the Prodigy. Thanks for all the responses.

I bought an activator, no lights to worry about on it.
Just a red light that comes on when pedal depressed.
You should have gone cheap like me.
