Puck System?
GMC dealer called me today about a 1 ton truck and asked if I needed one with a Puck System? If I understood correctly, he said it's the new 5th wheel (or gooseneck) prep package that is under the bed instead on inside the bed. Said when you take the hitch out of the truck, the bed doesn't have the mounting bars / brackets inside the bed. So I'm thinking this good.
Is this the new "standard" prep package and will all new hitches work with the Puck System? If it's not a Puck, what is it called?

That's it. The puck system is worth ever penny IMHO.

Puck Systems have pretty much been the standard 5th Wheel / Goose Neck prep for Ford Super Duty & Ram Trucks for last 4 years or so.
My 2014 F450 has the puck system and I use a B&W Hitch made to work with the system. I like the fact that you can easily take the hitch out, put the puck covers in and have nothing sticking up in the bed.
You would need a hitch made to work with puck systems like the B&W Companion. I think you can also buy base adapters for a standard hitch that can be used with a puck system.

X2.
Not sure if it is applicable and it should be checked but I believe the maximum trailer weight with the puck system is 25,000lbs.

X3. its a great system, but I don't think it is the same for each brand. that is the one for my Ram won't work in A GM or Ford and so on. I may be wrong but I don't think so.

It means that they agree multiple times. The puck system is fantastic in a couple of ways. The structural underneath the bed is substantially beefed up at the factory, and you have no rails on the bed if you remove the hitch. Just make sure you secure the puck handles so they can't be opened by accident. I actually used slide thru hitch locks to secure mine

Facebook 350. Now that's funny. I don't even allow Facebook in my house. Needless to say, I hope, F350

My new GMC has the puck system and bed liner from the factory. Sure looks nice.
I have not installed my hitch yet but will do so next week when we go out for the weekend.
I had to order the puck system hitch mounting adapter for my Hensley Trailer Saver hitch at a cost of $600. The factory puck option is about $300 and my hitch was $2k. So overall not a cheap option by any means but neither is RVing.
However, the combination of all the benefits at this point sure do seem appealing.

Times 2 and times 3. Like saying I second that and I third that. I got the puck system with my 2015 and love it. There are 5 holes (with covers) and the middle hole is for a goose ball. My Andersen Ultimate hitch (AUH) attaches to a goose ball and there are a couple others like Blue Ox Super Ride and BW Companion that do that and several that attach using the 4 outer pucks. In that case, you have to get the hitch specific to your truck. Places like etrailer and Hitchsource can help.
