Purchasing new 5'er

Hi Guys
I have spent a number of hours searching through the various posts. My wife and I went to the Toronto Fall RV show, didn't see a darn thing we liked, but, came to the conclusion that we like the floor plan of the Jayco HT Eagle, 28.5 RSTS. There are other models from different manufacturers that have similar floor plans. Now here is my question, Jayco uses a 5/8" T&G plywood floor. Some other brands use 2 layers of 5/16" luan. The same thickness but, does anyone have any experience, good or bad to say about the luan. I read that it attracks water.

thanks in advance

Sorry I can't comment on your floor construction question , other than to say , I'd prefer the T&G myself, water proof/ treated, would be nice , but I don't think any manufacturer treats their plywood.

Just wanted to say , Hi, from the West Coast, and Good Luck with your search.

I wouldn't want Luan on the floor. It's bad enough that the outer layer of fiberglass is glued to it. 90% of all manufactures use luan in their wall construction, but not in their floor construction. 5/8" TG ply is better IMO. I also don't think the two luan layers are as strong as a single 5/8" TG layer. Unless they glue the tow layers together then you will get flex in between the studs. As a rule floor stud spacing is 16"OC. I would make sure you're getting at least that with either brand.
Look around and see what the more expensive better built units are using. That right there should tell you which manufacturers are scrimping. You get what you pay for sometimes.

FWIW, what other brands were using Luan for the floor/
