Replacing gutter ends and had to remove some gutter. Found backing sealant on gutter itself to still be sticking to roof membrane material but dried out. I cannot reuse. Can I use the butyl tape against the roof membrain material or do I use Dicor product behind or remove the seal material and seal above track with Dicor? Also should I remove the entire gutter track because the material seems to be dried out clean? Keep the dust on your boot Thanks BKF

Most likely the original sealant is/was butyl tape. Depending on the age of your RV the entire length may require re-sealing. When you pull the end loose, the seal may be compromised for several inches further back from your working area. Butyl tape has been used successfully for many years in the RV industry. If you choose not to replace the entire sealant length, using Dicor sealant above the drip rail should be considered.
