Rear Panel Separation

The rear panel on my 2004 Gulf Stream Mako 5th wheel is pulling away from the body of the trailer. I've attached pictures of it from both sides, though I'm uncertain of the exact process ... For the moment, I've caulked and taped over the gap and I'm trying to find out how to make a more permanent repair. Has anyone had a similar problem? If so, what was the cause and how did fix it? I'd really appreciate any experience y'all could offer.

Some details: I do carry a generator and two mountain bikes back there. These receiver mounted, welded to the frame, not carried on the bumper. Slideout was slipping to the rear, I had that adjusted forward, may have been a contributing factor, I'm not sure.

Thanks for your help!

David
