Remodel!

My husband and I own a 2002 Holiday Rambler Alumascape, which we will be starting to remodel soon!
We haven't used it in 2 years and its been sitting in our back yard.
We live in Northern Illinois, but it is in pretty good shape.
Anyone ever remodeled before? What can we expect?
I know the last time we were in it we had AC issues (it didn't work!!) And there were some tank issues.
How do we clean the black tank?

While I can't really shed much light on this, the only thing I can add is to watch the weight - I have heard of folks re-doing cabinets and replacing sofas residential style and then having a weight issue. Good luck!

If you stored the trailer with the black tank full, then it will be kind of hard, especially if you don't have anywhere to dump the contents. Can you tow the trailer around--if so, then put some Dawn and Calgon in the tank, along with some water and drive it around, (possibly add about 10lbs ice to it also) then find a dump station to dump it. While at the dump station, run tons of fresh water thru it, then leave about 5-10 gal in it, more Dawn/Calgon and take it home. Do the rest of your remodel, and probably it will be ready to use--unless there is a large amount of 'stuff' in it to start.
If you don't have the ability to dump at the house, you are going to have to take it to a dump station or use the old 5-gal pail method over to a sewer cleanout. Not a fun job, but it can be done...

Thanks Joe!
The black tank was empty when we stored it but I'd like to clean it very good before we head camping again!

Also, thank you for the comment about the weight. I don't plan on painting the cabinets at this time. Maybe just the pulls...I HATE BRASS!
I am looking at IKEA furniture..small and light!

Alumascapes are nice trailers--we had a 19' years ago, served us well til kids got too big.
AC doesn't work? Either its shot, or an electrical issue. Does it run at all? Are you handy at getting up on the roof and taking the cover off to clean it good? If it acts like it is trying to start, possibly the fan is stuck, or possibly the starting capacitor is bad.
Does the fridge work? AC and fridge--major costs...
Have fun with the remodel--it will surely be 'yours' after that.
Joe

I use ice in a drained black tank. I add 10 - 14 lbs of ice and 5 - 7 gallons of water then tow the trailer a few miles then drain and flush.
