Replace steps???

I have a 2002 Newmar KSFB 33 5th Wheel. Like a dummy I left the steps down while sleeping at a truck stop. during the night a truck struck the steps and bent the bolts and mangled the steps. I have the new steps but the bolts are stuck and just spin. How do I access these bolts?? I took the steps off using a hack saw and/or vise grips and wrench. The bolts had been bent beyond recognition. I cannot find a way to access the bolts for replacement!!@! The bolts are severely damaged and must be replaced.

I assume you can't hack-saw them off. Can you get a pipe wrench on the bolt and nut, and just twist them off?? Maybe a truck stop would have a "torch" and could burn them off.

Can you get a mobile mechanic to come by and cut the old ones off and tack weld the new ones on or replace with all thread? I am assuming you can't get access to the back of the old bolt head, and can't get the new ones in for the same reason. Possibly need some kind of expert help, it won't cost as much as messing it up yourself.

I can't say for Newmar but if the bolts you are concerned with are in the top of the step's frame, you may have to remove the door and door frame to get to them .... they use carriage bolts that are inserted through the floor just inside of the door .... the door frame covers the bolt heads

This is correct. Most mass produced units have the carriage bolts under the floor covering past the entry door. Basically means you have to pull the floor covering to access them.
