I am considering ordering the Rock Solid Tow Guard. I was gonna make one but I found one for $103, so I think it's better to buy than fabricate. My question is about mounting - looking at the instructions attached, can someone tell me if the 2" receiver is the only mounting point? If so, does a draw bar need to be in the receiver to hold the Guard in place?

CW put an 8' angle iron on mine and mounted it to the frame just behind the receiver.

After having the very expensive, fancy one with Itasca written on Stainless steel hanging under my coach, I found that didn't do anything. I bought a Rock Solid rock guard from Camping World for $89. I mounted the Rock Solid Rock Guard all the way back and that worked great. I made a bracket out of 1in square tubing and attached it so that there was only a small gap between the Rock Solid and the rear cap. I also cut out a hole in the center for the hitch rather than leave a gap betwween the two pieces of the Rock Solid. I left a gap of about 2 inches between the bottom of the Rock Solid strips and the road. You will get all sort of theories on how big this gap should be but for me 2in works. I did leave the fancy guard hanging in its original position just for the hell of it. I have towed for 60,000 miles doing it this way without a problem. The only other ones that I think would work are the one that stands up in front of the toad and the one that has a mesh between the MH and the toad. I didn't like them because they required setting up. The less I have to do the better and the less chance of forgetting something.
