I have my 38' fifth at a camper repair shop getting a few things fixed. One being a wash and roof coating. The man told me my roof was about at it's end. It's a 03 Montana. Having talked to earlier owners, the roof has been coated each year. Anyway he wants $80 a foot to replace the roof. Thats $3040. I think that is way to high. I just had my in ground pool liner replaced for $3000 and it's a 20 X 40. I plan to shop around, but would like to hear what some of you think is a reasonable cost per foot to replace.

That's actually not a bad price. Google around and you'll see prices from 100-125/lineal foot. I would look into Rhino linings roof replacement as well... I plan to use this on mine this upcoming spring: Rhino Eco Coat Bed Liner, Best Spray on Bed Liner, Truck Bed Liner | Rhino Linings

I would agree, that is a reasonable price. The labor involved is the most expensive part.

I would not recommend adding another layer on top of the previous 10.

I am checking into "Liquid Roof" It's $80 per/gal and I would need 4 gals to do the 38 foot.

All are very good alternatives. I do not have exact pricing on the RhinoRoof product yet but I understand it to be comparable to replacement cost. I just prefer a bit tougher coating as for some reason I seem to get little tears and rips from tree branches quite often - even though I'm aware of my height and do my best to avoid them!

My 2010 Montana roof cost $4900 to replace in 2011 after a little disagreement with a tree branch that would not get out of my way. No structural damage, just a long tear.

That's super cheap. I wonder if he's going to re-deck, because you can't just glue back down to the original boards.

I wonder why it is "at it's end." I've seen plenty of roofs worn out, but you can still keep up the maintenance. Can you get any pictures?

Thanks Jes..It is to cold to go with the Liquid Roof now in NC, unless it's done in a heated building. I'm leaving for Fla. mid Dec. and when I get back to NC in May I think it will get done then. Thanks for the help everyone.

I didn't say coat, just maintain it. It may not need to be replaced.
Maybe just wash and treat. Maybe scrape all sealer off and reseal.

I just replaced the rubber roof and new decking on my 36' MH. Cost for the job was $3600. Prior owner neglected caulk at front and rear end caps . Negotiated a good price with the knowledge that roof would need repair and got a very nice looking replacement (new!) roof and was still ahead of the game after paying for the roof.

I would have someone else look at it and if needed done I would put liquid roof on it myself. If you can use a paint brush and a roller you can do it.
