Anyone have any ideas on cleaning the roof. I usually use Thetford rubber roof cleaner, and the roof looks white. After last winter, I cleaned the roof and it still has a gray apperance and the are small dark spots all over the roof. I've read on the CrossRoads forum that some use spic-n-span to get the roof looking like new? Is there a ratio I should mix it to? Are powered cleaners hard on roofs because of the grit as compared to the liquid cleaners? Also, when I cleaned the awning (which is a chore I can do without), the grime left some stains in the awning fabric. Can I use bleach to get the stains out without hurting the fabric or causing the burgandy part of the awning to discolor or streak?

After trying various cleaners that would make a small clean spot with lots of scrubbing, I bought some Full Timer's Choice awning cleaner.

With just a mop and no heavy scrubbing I had the awning looking like new quickly.

Roof wise, I've got some cleaner/treatment from the same company (made by camco) that works well.

It doesn't get all the little black spots, but I don't usually worry about those.

On Dicor's site (makes EDPM roofs on many RV's) under installation instructions it says that Mineral Spirits dampened on a cloth can be used to remove spots. It also says not to use acetone or anything that contains petrolium products.

Use Spik'N'Span... recomended by some of the rubber roof manufactures. It's not like the old spick'n'span that had so much trisodiumsulfate in it that it would peel the paint off of walls.

EPDM roof treatment, by Dicor You will note Dicor recommends Spic-N-Span if you feel you must clean your roof covering. Dicor says no cleaning is required, but if you do, follow thier recommendations. The membrane is warranted for 12 years without any cleaning.
