Hmmm - never go where there are bugs - that really limits ones travel options but to each their own.

We simply show up in skeeter land early or late in the season. I wish to not feed them anymore

Right and how does one escape the "noseeums" in FL without some protection. And I guess if you could see them they would be called "seeums"

We use our awning all the time.
I preparation for a trip to Assateague last year, I shopped around for a screen attachment for the awning but they were pricey.
We bought an EZ-Up awning locally and I got a screen attachment for it on eBay. We set it up once in the yard before going . . . didn't need it there because it was windy enough to keep the bugs away. Haven't used it since!

This thread kind of reminds me of folks who buy a motorcycle then complain about the wind when they are riding.
We have found that here in the Mid-West, a fan blowing across the seating area tends to move the unwanted bugs away.

This past summer we were in a couple of CG's that on their list of rules were"No 10x10 canopies". Didn't understand till we were at a rally in June and several of our friends set up three 10x10 between their two 40ft MH's. Wind got up suddenly two days later and really did a number on their paint! All three went to the dumpster and were not replaced. It does come with risk and responsibility. We used two with our vending biz but not beside $300,000 + motorhomes!

We have a patio-room,that attaches to the awing. It takes half hour to
put up, the wind has not been a problem. We have had it on in wind,
rain, and snow. cost is around $500.00 depending on size, mine is 12'.

A light sea breeze will send a EZ up sailing. It takes a fairly strong breeze to affect a heavy awning permanently attached to your rv. I know wind. I can see 400 wind generators from my door.

I live in Florida and even with a screen room mosquitoes will get you. Just opening the door lets them in.
I've found that using a few Thermocells around the table, the fire pit and by the front door of the trailer works great. They also make a lantern version to place on top of the table with LED lights. Even if you decide to get a screen room, adding a couple Thermocell units by the entrance to the screen room and by the stairs to the RV will keep the mosquitoes from entering.

I grew up in Minnesnowta, or is it Minneskeeto.
You can't keep skeeters out of anything. If you get them in a tent, they stay.
Before mid May or after mid September you are usually safe. That is when we show up. And aint hot then too neither dontchaknow?
My best to all of you!
