RV directions from Gardner Montana to Jackson Wyoming
My Wife and I are on our first trip out West and are currently camping in Gardner Montana. Our next stop is Jackson Wyoming.
Route 89/191 looks like the most direct rout but is it RV friendly?

That would be the route I would take. I've towed a 28ft TT over that route and also from the Driggs/Victor, ID area but there is a BIG mountain pass going that way between Victor and Jackson.
You may hit a lot of slow traffic going through Yellowstone - people like to park in the middle of the road to look at an elk or bison.
There is lots of great scenery in the areas you will pass through.

You have probably been over it by now, but Teton Pass is very steep on both sides, 10% grade most of the way. I wouldn't pull a large 5th wheel into the park unless you have reservations because of the huge amount of traffic.

Personally I would pick the east side of the yellowstone loop road then down past lake Yellowstone vs the west side (depending construction this year) if going south bound, though be aware the roads in the norther half of Yellowstone are even more narrow than in the southern half. (Mamouth, Tower Junction, Canyon Village, Lake Yellowstone, West Thumb, then on south into Grand Tetons NP)
p.s. we did yellowstone in our coach last summer, and there were diesel pushers towing cars on that road, though I am glad I was not one of them

The construction on the west side between Mammoth and Norris is really bad//muddy// rougher than heck.
Agree with above...east side from Mammoth to Canyon is high and stretches of narrow lanes.

Is there an app for that. I thought I saw one but it may have been a part of one of the services for sale, like Good Sam, etc. Does AAA trip calculator take RVs into account?

Get yourself a Motor Carriers Atlas from a truck stop. It highlights the routes approved for 18-wheelers. If the road is ok for them, I figure, it should be ok for us.
