RV mattress options

Our 5'er came with a king mattress (Serta "Winding road"). We have not slept a night on it yet, but we are use to a high end pillow top. After measuring it, it's about 5" narrower than a standard king (71x80 vs 76x80). We know mattresses are a personal decision, but what works for you? Topper? Memory foam? Conventional coil/pillow top? I'm assuming if we change it out we'll have to custom.
Thank you in advance and sweet dreams!
Kim

Depends on how much you will sleep on it, and how much $$ you want to spend.
If I used ours a lot, a high end pillow top would be my choice.

I spent about 400$ on a nu form memory foam mattress from overstock.com. My wife thinks its as comfortable our Tempur one at home.

When I first felt the mattress in our trailer I thought it would have to be replaced its not as plush (soft) as our Sealy Platinum pillow top in the house but it surprised us. We both find it just as comfortable so we kept it. You should probably sleep on it before making a decision.

Ours came with an upgraded pillow top and found it to be quite comfortable.

We have a Sleep Number bed in the S&B and that would be our first choice if we decided to replace the pillow top that came with our 5er.

We have the RV SleepNumber bed. It has the rounded corners . I think these are a CW exclusive & not availible thru the stores.

We have been most happy with latex mattresses. And the good thing is they are easy to get in the size that you need. Ours is 72"x80" which is somewhat of an RV standard, I am told.

In our stick house we had a med-firm latex mattress and added the softer toppers to get the right feel.

Just recently we changed the RV to an adjustable bed base and latex mattress and it is great! We really missed the adjustable bed from the stick house. This base has slats that act like a box spring. And it is only 5" thick. We purchased it before Thanksgiving and are very pleased.

Get a 2" memory foam topper - we've a pillow top Sleep Number at home and the mattress that came with our 5er just didn't compare. Adding a topper from Walmart did the trick. We've spent up to nine weeks sleeping on it just fine.

My 5er (used) came with a foam /pillow top mattress. It was comfortable but I added a memory 2" topper anyway. Sleeping on a cloud now. Only thing I wish is if it were a few inches narrower. The mattress is wall to wall in the slide and it's difficult to tuck the bedding in.

I agree that you can just add a topper. We added a pillow top topper in our old trailer and moved it to the current one 8 years ago because we did want to just throw it out. Something to try and lots cheaper than a new mattress.

Topper

Our new 5th wheel came with a king size mattress. We bought a 4" memory foam topper and I sleep as well on that mattress as I do on our temper ped mattress at home.

We’ve tried both memory foam and latex toppers in our RV. We prefer the latex hands down. It’s cooler and doesn’t have memory.

I chose Leesa memory foam. Pricey but very worth it

Ours came with the optional "Serta Trump Luxury Mattress" and we love it. I sleep just as well on it as I do the Tempur-Pedic we have at home. We had memory foam on our previous motor home, but no need on this one.
