Pennsylvania man killed in Bristol Highway crash

A Pennsylvania man was killed in a traffic crash that occurred just before 5 p.m. on Bristol Highway Saturday.

Police said Ralph J. Miller, 65, of Pennsylvania, was traveling on Bristol Highway toward Johnson City in a Ford F-250 truck that was towing a camper when he suddenly veered off the road and struck an International flatbed truck, which was parked on the side of the road.
“According to witnesses, the driver never applied the brakes, so we’re pretty sure that it was probably some type of medical problem or medical issue the driver had,” JCPD Lt. Larry Williams said.

Williams said Miller did not appear to have suffered any injuries during the crash that would have resulted in his death. Williams said they are going to see if the medical examiner will order an autopsy in order to determine whether or not Miller had a medical condition that caused his death prior to the crash.
Miller’s wife, who was riding in the passenger seat, was transported to the Johnson City Medical Center following the crash. Williams said she was in stable condition. Her name has not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
