We have about 25,000 miles on our fiver and are looking to tow it cross country next year. I want everything checked as well a wheel bearings packed. I do plan on getting new tires for the trip. What needs to be done and does anyone know of a good RV service department not too far from eastern NC??

Other than wheel bearings repack, and new tires, I would suggest a thorough inspection of all systems. You should be able to do all of them yourself except maybe the gas system. Basically all you should need is is everything working correctly? Might want to have the slides checked for adjustment. Look over the chassis and be sure that the jake plates and spring bushings are in good shape and lubricated properly. If you have Dexter axles you can get greasable shackle bolts and have them installed. Worth every penny of the cost.

Check the shock absorbers also. On our first trip to Texas we found ours were bad. You know the roads are terrible and the expansion joints make you want to stop sooner each day.

Be certain the shop that repacks your bearings can also work on your brakes if they need work. Otherwise you may have to pay for repacking twice.
