Shade RV 5th Wheel Roof Canopy

Did not see any previous discussion on this. Anybody have actual experience with one these shade systems? I like the concept of lowering roof temperature and protecting the roof components from direct UV damage. Supposedly tested to 70MPH. Roughly $800 for a 38-foot fiver.

If it's 100 degrees you would want to be using the air conditioners...won't work too good with a cover over them.

You could experiment with a couple large blue plastic tarps or some painter's tarps to see if it's worth it before you spend $800.

One of the main benefits is to keep the A/C units in the shade for more efficient operation. The canopy is several inches above the A/C units. The key is to have the air space between the roof and canopy for ventilation. Without that, it wouldn't work.

From the looks of the picture it does not leave enough clearance for airflow to the AC unit. It also looks like a hassle to put up and take down and might not stay there in a storm. No first hand experience though, maybe it works great. Give it a try.

The system works great. It does not choke off the A/C at all. What I want to know specifically are things like fit & finish, interior noise during normal wind, durability, etc. from someone who owns one.

Morning, I use these tarps over my pool and my gardens. They are not woven tight and they let air and water through. I do not know how but they cut out a lot of heat. They are called " Sun Shades " and they have no noise like a tarp in the wind& tougher than you would think. As long as you have a way that you could take a little slack out they would probably work well. Might work real well they way that they mount, my pool one was 35 X 15 and only anchored by 4 corners. for a long term stay probably ok but for moving lots could be a pain. They do last as I have mine on my pool for 4 summers in Houston..
