Tires, axles 7 or 8 k, frame build, construction, deck, roof, wraps, all so important when considering what brand to look at. You want something that will hold up against the pounding and living.
Units we have been impressed with that meet our criteria are: Excel, DRV, Trilogy (although they are so new, I doubt you will find used ones) King of the Road
we just bought an 06. There is lots of talk on this board to read on selecting a quality unit and testimony/recommendation that I am sure can be useful to you.

06 King of the Road 37RLQS
06 Coachman Cross Country 5.9L 300HP 382 DS
03 Jeep Wrangler, 4.0L James, Trina, SMSgt, USAF Ret

Pre 2006 Alpenlite 5rs are very well built. They are no longer in business but I never needed the factory in 18 years. The bunk house is the problem . Most bunkhouse models are in weekend units unless special built. I just looked at a 2002 Alpenlite in Glendora CA 32rk for $12,500 on RVTrader, com , private seller, non smoker, no pets & they had a 2001 chevy TV available also.
2001 dodge 2500 auto, with billet Mojave Green torque converter with 2nd gear lockup mod, raptor 100 fuel transfer pump and gauges. RV75 injectors
94 Alpenlite 27sl with many mods.

Have you considered a toy hauler?
We absolutely love ours, the garage section gives us a lot of flexibility. Kids room, I use as a office, wife has a place to work on crafts with the kiddos on rainy days and we have lots of storage while on the road. I'm not sure we would ever be without a toy hauler for our lifestyle.
I would agree that it is a good idea to purchase used. We found an amazing deal on our current unit while browsing RVT.com. Another good site to use is pplmoterhomes.com

For the money we wanted to spend we found that the Titanium 36E41MPRV was what fit our extend stay lifestyle.

Hope this helps

Don't know if anyone has mentioned PPL RV.
They sell on consignment and usually have a pretty good stock of well cared for RV's.
They're worth a look.

My advice is: if you're selling your house just to buy an RV for a house, DO NOT SKIMP! If you do, you probably won't be happy or safe, and will eventually wind up spending the money in the long run anyway.
