Anyone else having this problem?

Skylight vibrates open and is damaged as we travel, it is happening again, this is the second time.

The first time Ventline told us we did not close the vent and we paid the full price to have the whole unit replaced.

The second time we caught the problem before there was major damage. What is happening is the manual crank mechanism is separating at the rivets, when this happens the worm gear disengages and allows the vent to vibrate open.

Model #2401 Northern Breeze fan, although we have two other vents by Ventline without the fan and the crank mechanism looks to be identical. The crank on the bathroom vent looks like it could be starting to separate.

Have contacted Ventline and they are sending us a replacement manual crank mechanism, but the design looks poor.

Replace with a Fantastic Fan and you won't have any more problems. If 12v is not avail. you can usually run a line from a ceiling light.

I had the vent to open a time or two but got no damage. I now have vent covers on all the vents. They cost around $20 each and easy to put on.
