I hope this hasn't been asked too many times before but I couldn't find it if it was. When I have our trailer in storage in our yard should I leave the slide in or out? If it is out it is easier to get around inside when I need to go in there to do something but with the slide in there is less space to try to keep warm and dry.

What do you think would be best? Is there something I am overlooking?

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.

I leave mine in because too much junk builds up on the top over the long storage times. (even with the awning) I'll put it out a couple of inches if needed to move around easier but then bring it back in when done.

We leave ours out. You also want to make sure you coat the rubber seals to keep them from drying out

As JiimyDee says leave it in not only because of the junk that you get on it but also to protect the seals from weather when not using!!

We leave ours in, and move it out only when we need to access something.

Many folks who are lucky enough to be able to park the unit at home do leave the slides out. And those that have to put the unit into storage yard usually close the slides.

We have our trailer in our backyard and usually keep our slide out. I makes it easier to pack up.
But most important!! Be sure to make it a "pre-trip habit" to check the top of your slide before you slide in! You may have to sweep off a branch or tree cones or ????

I leave mine in unless I am using the trailer.

We keep our TT in a storage yard and while we have enough room there for the slide to be kept out, we store ours with the slide in just so we don't get the buildup on top and to take the weight off the rails underneath. If your slide stays out for extended times, that's a lot of weight to keep carrying.

Generally a slide seals better in the in position. Also, there is less stress on the trailer frame and slide when the slide is in. You can always slide out to load and unload, but store in the in position.

A buddy of mine that works on everything, told me to keep the slide in. Seals and accumulation were his reasons. he also told me to leave it plugged in. Havent had any problems so far.

My neighbor once left his unit on the coast all summer with the slide out - when he went to bring it home in the fall it was rusted in the open position. My vote is for no slide at all, but if you must slide it should be stored in.
