Slide Locks

So, do folks always use the slide lock (pole that holds the slide in) when traveling? First time 5th wheeler and just found the locks and wonder what everyone does.

I've never used mine on any of my RV's.

I'm always afraid someone will try to open the slide with them installed.

I use them on my Newmar 100% ,they are a hinged flat bar in my case ,they 'overcenter' to lock down.
Easy if you use the tool provided.

short trips (less than 70 miles) don't use them. Over 70 miles use them every time. 70 miles happens to be the distance to one of our favorite CG's.

I do the same, if it's moving they are locked. Only if I've got the slide open are they unlocked.

I also use them 100% of the time mainly to keep the slide from moving around and damaging the slide motor gears and rack.

Use it (there's only 1 for us) 100% of the time.

It was missing when we purchased. I saw a bit of light come in the slide seal while driving during a strong cross-wind, so I knew it needed replacement.

It protects the slide drive and reduces wear on the slide seal.

Our slide drive has a key safety - so we put that key on a ring around the slide lock. There is no way to open the slide without getting the key off the slide lock first

Safe travels

Have had 1 motorhome and on my 2nd 5r none of them had slide locks. My current 5r was purchased new and did not come with slide locks, so no we do not use them.
