Slide outs

What would cause a slide out to move out while driving down the road?
Any help will be nice. Thanks

What's you 5er's, year, brand and model ?
Slide drive manufacturer? Lippert ? Power Gear?
How far out does it move ? Inches ? All the way ?

Different slide drives ( hydraulic or electric gear drive ) have issues that could cause this .

Some slides use planetary gears and others have worm gears.

Planetary gears can be turned by hand or the weight of the slide. These need a brake or slide lock.

Worm gears cannot be turned by hand or the weight of the slide so a brake or slide lock is not not needed.

The motor has a brake on it to prevent this. You may have a problem with the motor brake or wiring.

The instructions for my slide state that the power switch to the slide needs to be in the on position during travel to keep it locked in place.

I'm really rather skeptical of that, but the fact that even when you kill the 12V master switch, the power at the panel for the slide and awning controls stays live lends credence to what they are intending.
