Small Leak

We were sitting on the deck tonight and my wife went in the camper to get a sweatshirt and said she noticed the back was wet. I asked her where it was and she said her bedroom closet on the floor. I went in and inspected the closet from ceiling to floor. The carpet felt damp but the walls were completely dry. I took a flashlight out and looked at the side and there were cracks in the sealant right where her closet would be. Upon closer inspection, there was a small hole under the bottom side of the fifth wheel near the hitch. Do you think it could have entered here and the carpet wicked it up (hence the carpet being wet)? I didn't notice any water or damp areas on the walls or ceiling of her closet. There were no water stains either. I'm thinking the cracks and hole at the bottom are the source. Thoughts?

Had you just come off the highway , driving in the rain ?

If so the wicking up into the carpet is very possible. Particularly if any vent was open to create a vacuum inside the RV.

If you weren't driving I still think it woukd be possible for water to wick up into the carpet. Our 26 foot jayco was wicking water up from the edges where the visqueen meets the siding. The walls where dry just as you mentioned. Problem we had is we are the third owner, the floors were rotted and had to be replaced.

Wasn't driving. It sits in a permanent site. I was able to get out and caulk it last night. Got some rain this morning and no further wet areas. I believe we found it! The floor is really solid in the closet so it looks like we caught it early enough!
