We spent most of this winter in Pensacola FL. We spent a week in Islamorada which was nice but expensive. We are now in Melbourne FL for March.

Looking to spend a few months next fall in Mustang Island in TX.

We will be spending the 13/14 winter in Sarasota area. We found a park up by the airport, not far from the gulf either. We like the climate here, our son lives here as well. Fl is kinda pricey for Rving though.

Not full timing yet but soon.... Our plans are to hit Surprise AZ first winter then perhaps FL as we both enjoy cruising and diving. I am certain there are many great places to spend the winters so any other great places near cruise ports or have great diving areas let us know.....thanks Jim & Trina

That sounds like a bargain. Being from Illinois that's closer than RGV. How do I contact him?

I can recommend a hidden gem in Florida. It is one of the best RV resort I've seen. It is located in N. Florida near Gainesville so it doesn't have those high charges associated with farther south. It's called Williston Crossings RV Resort and is under new management the last two years - improvements galore: new clubhouse, new laundromat, new pool, new pavillion and a new section of over two hundred sites. The web address is:
Williston Crossings RV Resort North Central Florida Check it out. I'm not affiliated with them - just a happy customer !

True, but it was pretty low 100 miles south where the monthly rates are 300 or more a month higher.

Usually doesn't last more than a day or two.

It is a nice park and away from the salt air corrosion.

How is the tree pollen at Williston Crossing? I stayed last year for awhile just north of Tampa and tree pollen was terrible. A yellow film was everywhere.

It also looks close to some great kayaking places. You do any?

Just thought i would add my pennyworth. Grey nomads over this side of the 'pond' tend to migrate to southern Spain, or Portugal, or even Morocco for the winter. Morocco, and southern Spain in the summer can be blisteringly hot!
My brother is in Spain at the moment, in 20c. I am at home and it's 1c Brrrrr!
He is paying 290 euros per month for his plot, which is around $250.
Some campgrounds are very expensive, others much cheaper. I have found one for £1000 ($1500) for the year, but on a six month usage and six months storage basis, in any combination. That's what we will do for winter 13/14.
It's only a 2.5 hour flight, so that means the kids and grandkids will not be far away.
I have just changed from an A-class to a fiver, and really enjoy the versatility of it.
Safe travels!

Craig

Tree pollen was no more nor less than Tampa/ St. Pete area or The Villages. Again last for a week or two but for many hundreds less a month and in Zone 2 not 3 and IT'S NOT CROWDED, I'll stay here.

There are dive holes near by, Kayaking in some of the estuaries along the coast, a 30+ mile bike trail near by hiking, golfing and my favorite - DARK skies (I have a large telescope)!

Thank you for this recommendation! I went on the link and there is a lengthy story of the history which is very interesting.

Appears to be a very nice park and folks who have given a lot of time and effort to make it a great place for everyone. Thanks again..jim
