What is the cause and under what circumstances does it squeek. Temperature, humidity, weight, example:
A 170 lb person walking on it or 300 lb person walking on it.
Prior water damage? Type of floor construction?

Depends on what is squeaking. Saw an Excel on here that just had a loose lag bolt from an outrigger. Could be floor joists, floor decking, and other things hidden. All that means pulling flooring up.

sometimes you can take care of the problem from below .... if it is in the area above the basement, you might be able to have someone make it squeak while you get in the basement and look .... if you see the cause you may be able to correct it ..... if it isn't above the basement you may be able to drop the underbelly and follow the same procedure

I too have a question in regard to squeaking/creaking floor. We are currently on the Oregon Coast which requires the running of a dehumidifier nearly non-stop; but since we have started operating it, the floors have started creaking. Any suggestions on what a reasonable humidity level (percentage wise) is appropriate as we can adjust on the dehumidifier?
