Switching backup camera between tailgates

I have a 2012 Dodge Ram Laramie that has a backup camera embedded in the tail gate. I would like to take that tailgate off and replace with one of the RV composite 5th wheel tailgates. I have read great reviews about them and I like the idea of not having to drop the tailgate when hooking and unhooking to the 5th wheel every time.
But I don't want to give up my back up camera. Has anyone done the switch? Can it be done. Lot's of questions to be asked. But if it could be done that might be the best of both worlds.

I watched some YouTube video on switching cameras around. It can be done however I have not done it myself. There are a few videos on switching rear view mirror and dash cam which you should not need. That one required a software change.
