Love it in our 2013 Tiffin Phaeton 40QBH. It has a switch on the heater unit outside to allow it to heat itself and prevent freezing in cold weather. It protected heater unit with a 9 degree night and propane central rear heater running to protect belly plumbing and tanks. Only caution is if you are drawing a very light stream of hot water, the auto startup does not see enough flow to light up. Never run out of hot water and easy on propane.

We have one. Like said, you need enough flow to work good. I have removed any water saving devices from faucets and shower head. Leave the hot water side on full and adjust temperature with the cold. Plenty of hot water.

First, I don't have one. Because of these forums I don't think you really need to own a particular item to know about it, and in this case I think the jury is still out about whether or not this is a good idea. Case in point- if something goes wrong with your conventional tanked heater there are plenty of parts and total complete units available almost anywhere. I've noticed the market has expanded with more makes and models of the tankless units over the past few years ...each of them claim to overcome the defects and faults of the others. The technology embedded in tankless units makes them inherently more complicated and thus less reliable in the long run.

Just bought a Montana 3920FB and it has hot water on demand. Over all we like it. It does take some getting used to. As stated you have to have a flow rate for it to kick in. Once accustum to it it is very nice to never worry about running out of hot water. I feel they will he the norm soon.

Installed an Atwood in my Sightseer last year. Replaced shower valve with a thermostatic valve. DW loves it.

We have Precision Temp 500. We like it. Endless hot water.

We have had tankless in the Stick and Bricks for nearly 15 years.

It will supply continuous hot water to anything in your trailer. At normal water flow and pressure has always kept up to anything we needed.

I have never used one. I also have read hundreds of complaints on them. Truma is the only one I know of with good reviews. Only dealer install though.

Tankless water heaters are one of the things I really hated about living overseas. You were pretty much stuck with them in the lower cost housing a GI could afford. You have to get the flow rate steady, and use more water prior to getting the temp you want which hurts when dry camping. On the other hand, If you’re on hookups, and have a lot of folks that need to shower in a short time, they’re a good option since a water conservation isn’t necessarily important and endless supply is a real plus.

On demand was something I avoided strongly when purchasing current trailer. 12 gallon conventional water heater seems to enable us to shower as long as we want when on hookups, and being right under the shower, the short plumbing run and already fully heated water helps with water conservation when dry camping which we do a lot.
