The big question--which unit to get??

Good morning,

Hope everyone is up and well, I am kicking along this morning. We are ready to buy a 5th Wheel, the road is just over two years long. We started out over two years ago studying Motorhomes, but a thing or two has changed and are now settled on on getting a 5th wheel. We have a f350 dually with the 7.3 to tow with.
We had actually found a '11 Crossroads Cruiser Patriot and sent in a request for more info last night, but I was doing a search and found some, somewhat displeasing info. I'm thinking it was from this site, it but pointed out some things about the roof, insulation and wall panels not being as good as other brands.
Something about the roofs being prone to leak-the insulation not being too good.
Anyhow the forum suggested some other brands such as Keystone Cougar and some more. I am a little stumped at this point, should we choose an older unit that meets our needs or a new more economy one, as Heartland offers the Elk Ridge extream light for under 30k.
Does anyone have dealings with Heartland? Any thoughts/info is very much appreciated. Farmer

We have a Heartland Sundance bought in 2013. Heartland has their own forums. I am sure you could get more information on there. Other than a tire blowout, we have been satisfied with our 3400qb.

Farmer I got your message today but I don't download untrusted programs on my computer so I wasn't able to answer you sorry..Your truck is a good truck for towing 14,000 pound or lighter 5th wheel I had an f350 with the 7.3 Navistar several years ago great truck...I would recommend you shop around and look at used 35' or shorted Excels or DRVs Keep in mind these 5th wheels are heavy so I wouldn't look at one of these models any longer then that...Excels and DRVs that are 5 years old can be found at bargain prices and if taken care of they have many more years of useful life left in them...They are far better built then the new models you mentioned..Good luck my friend...

We bought our 07.5 MobileSuites 36SB3 in late 11 for 1/2 of new price and have lived in it full time since then. Trading in on a new MS soon did not loose much for 3 years of use.

Definitely shop around and take your time. Last summer I bought an 07 Mobile Suites 36 sb3 for 17k, super deal and a very well built 5ver. There are deals out there to be had, just take your time, you won't be sorry you did.
