Welcome to the forum and congrats on your move to a fiver. Make sure that your SWD has the rating for your 42' trailer. You might be over the rating on that truck. Guess I should ask for more particulars on the specific trailer model like it's dry weight.

A trailer may tow nicely, but still be over weight for the TV.

The dry weight is 12,480, hitch weight is 2,918 and the GVW is 15,500.
Our Truck has a towing rate of 17,000 lb. So we are going to do a test pull
with it, i will find out pretty quick what it feels like. Haven't bought it yet, we really like
how roomy it is over the trailer.
Thanks.

Look at your door sticker that shows tire rating. It will state payload or "combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed".

With a dry pin weight of 2918 you will likely be at least 3500 lbs when you load stuff in the trailer.

Then add weight of your passengers, hitch and stuff you carry in the truck to your pin weight. If that weight exceeds your payload you will not be legal.

Look at my door sticker below for an example. My payload is 3500 lbs on my 2017 F-350 SRW. My dry pin weight is 2219 and 2900 when loaded. My hitch is a 37 lb lightweight Andersen and 2 passengers, dog and cargo adds 550 lbs. We are right at legal payload. 2900+37+550=3487 lbs.

Whats the payload rating on your 3500? I bet you'll be maxed out on the rear axle all loaded up.

I read most of it, sounds just like a Keystone web site. Not going to end unless the Feds or local Government makes them change, and no it won`t make the units cost a great deal more, that is just an excuse. The whole crossing state lines is the problem, gives the manufactures the legal edge.

Welcome to the forum.
Looking at the specs. of that trailer 12K dry, CCC 3k, 2.5k pin, seems like it should be in your trucks wheel house despite the vast amount of interior room.
You might consider rolling it over a CAT scale on your test drive if that's feasible. This will give you an idea of what to watch for when loading for outings.
Have a great summer!

I have 4074lbs payload on my ram 3500 srw and tow a 39 toy hauler. 16500 gvwr and about 3100-3300 on pin depending on rzr in the garage. I'm at max limits for rawr and cgvwr. We r a family of 4...so you will be close. Yours must be a triple axle? If so, I'd bet the pin weight is lighter than mine

That's a big tandem axle. Best you can do short of towing it to a cat scale and weighing it is to load your family up with full tank of fuel and whatever gear u have in the truck (with hitch) and weigh the truck alone. Note your rear axle weight and total truck weight. I wouldn't trust a. Brochure weight of your 5th...look at the yellow sticker and see what it weighed from the factory. Figure maybe 20-22% of the fiver gvwr for pin weight.

We tow a Sandpiper 42' 5th W with a 2016 F350 DRW 6.7L with no problems. But when loading the front compartment you will need be aware that some things might need to be loaded inside trailer so that the truck doesn't set more than a -1 when loaded. Ford has a load leveling page on the dash that can be used to help with leveling truck. Also use a 24K Curt 5th W hitch
