I have had both a built in Onan 4000 genset, and the Champion 3100 with remote start and stop. The Champion stores in the front of our Arctic Fox 25.7L. I take it out when it's used . We like it better, because it is quieter, and it does not vibrate the trailer. It has it's own battery, so even if the trailer batteries are dead, it will still start. My trailer is generator ready, and plumbed for propane use. I would not want a propane generator, because it's a pain to fill, costs more, and when we boondock, propane can be hard to come by. Another thought on the the Champion 3100 is it is an inverter, and when there is not a heavy load, the generator engine slows down to and idle. This makes both it efficient, and quiet. Not sure of the weight, I'm 67 and have no issues loading or unloading it. Dave-R

We have a 2018 AF 27-5 and love it. I love the fact it is less than 30 '. RVing is growing and parks and resorts are going to become even more crowded. We fish coastal rivers and many of the state and county parks we stay in on the west coast are older and smaller. Almost none have power or hookups. One of the greatest benefits if you have to travel long distances is the bed, bath and kitchen (except pantry) are all accessible with the slide in. We can overnight in rest stops and Wallmarts comfortably. A Honda 2000 inverter keeps batteries topped off. I have a factory propane generator as well for my wife to use since the Honda is chained to the truck and I fish a lot in the AM . If it is pouring rain I do not have to go out and push the button in the truck if I want a protein shake. Works great for hot lunches on the road and I do not have to start up the Honda and run cable to the 5er at a rest stop. An expensive luxury, but I like it.

Will be upgrading to 600w solar before we leave for a 5 month trip this summer. If you can live with a smaller 5er, the 27-5 is a choice to consider.
