Time to Choose which 5TH wheel to live in?
Hello,
We are narrowing down our choices for our next 5th wheel purchase. This will be for full time home (tall husband) . We are leaning on the Durango Nugget, Open Range, or Sanibel.
Anyone have anything to share pro/con for the above?

we want to stay around 48-50 depending on what our house sells for  and a 2015 F350, thank you

Not sure but I do not believed that any of those choices are made for fulltime living,

Full Time Warranty
You want to check to see which manufacturer's give a "Full Timer Warranty" on their models. That will give you a guide on what brands to look at.
I understand you have a budget but RV construction can really give you a Headache when you are shopping and the amount of information out there can be overwhelming. It's sound like you have been looking since you mentioned three brands/models. Highway traveling can really take a toll on fifth Wheels so you want something that has a sturdy frame and running gear. You also want a company that will give you good warranty service no matter were you are on the road.

Mobile Suites, Excel, New Hoirizons are full time approved.
NU Wa. But they will be used. All in that 100K range. IMO!!!

Of the units you listed I would buy the Sanibel. But check axles should be at least 7,000lb. capacity, tires at least 'G' rated, at least 12" I-Beam frame, should have dual pane flush mount windows.

thanks, good info. I think for most we have it covered in these choices, the G rating and 12 " I -beam not specified in brochure specs. So we are in the right direction.

Looking at the 1000s of rv in my area. I am sure most units can be very well set up for full timing. We do it on a budget and are happy with our choice.

People fulltime in many different models of 5vers. You might save some money by looking at slightly used one in good condition. Look at Heartland in the same price range as they build some nice units and have a super forum of owners. Good luck

I agree, we see people fulltime living in all types of RVs.
It depends on what you budget, goals and your lifestyle is, one thing for sure is there is no "Right Way" to fulltime.
I believe the vast majority of Fulltimer's are living in RVs that are not "Warrantied by the Manufacturer for Fulltime", us included.
I do agree there are some basic items to look for that will make your RV more comfortable and last longer when being used fulltime to live in.
A solid foundation / frame, solid construction, Heavy Duty high rated tires and axles, solid wood cabinets, good insulation values just to name a few.

None of the units you listed are considered full time units. For your price point, consider a gently loved used unit from the following:
DRV (Mobile Suites)
Lifestyle
Excel
Hitchhiker
Carriage Cameo
New Horizon
The more entry level RVs are built lighter weight and will not hold up as well to full time use.
