Titan disc brakes versus Kodiak?

Hi all, I am planning to replace my OEM trailer brakes with a disc brake system.

I have narrowed it down and have a great quote for a full Titan setup but I just wondered if anyone here has Titans or if anyone knows of any drawbacks especially as they compare to Kodiaks, which seem to be more widespread

Thanks

My Elite Suite has Kodiak, i did have to rebuild a caliper that had a seal tear, was able to buy parts at Orielly auto parts, there is common automotive crossover for the pads, and caliper parts & bolts.

Don't know about the Titan calipers and parts availability / crossover. I know Kodiak has been doing trailer disks since 1994.

Looks like a new rig, have you entertained putting the MORRyde IS and Disks on it? If your fulltime I would look into it.

Poppy, I put Kodiak brakes and a Dexter actuator on my 5ver years ago. Best thing I ever did to improve the trailer. I used a Brakesmart controller that had a pressure sensor that fit into the truck's brake line, smooth effective brakes. Just traded the trailer in on our new to us 2005 Beaver Patriot Thunder w/tag axle. Still looking down the road...
Good luck!

Go to RedwoodRVowners and ask Ron Russell AKA Titan Guy He is the expert and will be able to help you out with the differences. The Titan setup stops quicker. I had them installed on mine it is the best investment I ever made

I wanted to post back that I did find out that Titan and Kodiak parts are interchangeable. So that makes them even more intriguing. All the benefits of readily accessible parts, such as brake pads, and at a better price.

I got a quote for a complete Titan kit for $1,400 including shipping! How could I resist that?

Thanks all.

P5W, The only trouble I had with my disc install was doing the double flares on the coiled brake tubing supplied with the kit, never could get it right, the flares leaked. So I used straight, pre-flared brake tubing from my local auto parts store. You can buy it in different lengths to make up each section you will need. Keep the flex hose as short as possible. Carefully bleed the system several times to remove all air, then go lock up a wheel! Adjust your brake controller and you''re off.
