What is the largest 5th wheel that is practical and safe to tow with a dually? What is the max trailer GVW? Truck is an '04, 6.0 model. Any input will be appreciated.

Welcome to iRV2.

To properly answer that question, more information would be needed:

Truck's Empty weight.

Truck's GCWR. (gross combined weight rating)

Truck's GVWR. (gross vehicle weight rating)

Weight of truck's cargo and passengers.[/list]
But, a seat of the britches or off the cuff answer would probably be somewhere around 13,000# for that year Ford with a dually crew cab, a little more if it's a regular cab.

Welcome nisp6037!

Richard is correct in that you need to know exactly how your truck is optioned and it's weight.

Then you can go to Fords's Towing Guide for some answers about maximum trailer weights.

HERE is a link to the entire 2004 towing guide.

You should keep the weight of the trailer
below what the tow limit is, or you will
most likely have truck problems, I did.
And I was only 1000# over the limit.
