TPMS on 2018 F350 Superduty 6.7,SRW, Crew Cab, SB

We have a slow leak in the left rear tire and the TPMS does not warn- what psi does the TPMS use to trigger warning? It has gone as low as 69 and loses 10psi in three days. Have called dealer and they are not any help. Have checked, best I can, the valve stem for leakage and cannot find any nail, etc in the tire. Probably will take to LesSwab and have the tire checked but am concerned that it might be the Sensor or wheel and how the new Ford warranty covers this. Hate to have the tire taken off too many times to just check due to impact wrench damage, if you know what I mean. Must have this fixed before we take delivery of our 2019 27-5L Arctic Fox 5th Wheel. Thanks for any input.

I believe the TPMS on the F-350 fires at 59psi.
Remember while your back tires are at 80psi- the fronts are at 65psi, so it has to be able to accommodate some fluctuation in the front.

I would absolutely take it to Ford - any tire issues are covered for the first year or 12,000 miles.

I just got a brand new 18" Goodyear Wrangler because I had a vibration - ended up being tread separation and I got brand new tire from Ford, under warranty, at 7500 miles on the truck.

I would try lowering pressure a little at a time to see when warning light comes on. The TPMS module is programmed with the different pressures for front and rear. That's why you need to relearn sensor position on most cars when tires are rotated.

Over on the Ford diesel forum there have been lots of reports of this problem. I had it myself and it was the valve stem. There have also been some reports of leaks in the aluminum wheels also. Most have commented that their dealer knew of the problem. I think I would pressure the dealer to take care of it. I thought I had a nail or something but it was the stem. They put some kind of seal on it and it has been fine since. As it only cost me 10 bucks I didn't complain.

Fill up your bath tub and bring the tire in and check for bubbles! Fortunately, I have always had a swimming pool to do this but no better way. Make sure you put some outward pressure on the valve stem when you do this test.

HAHAHAH!

A spray bottle with soapy water will do fine.

Mostly on the duallys though, this is a SRW. I haven't seen any reports of it on SRWs.

And when that fails, which it will for extremely tiny leaks, dunk the tire in water which is what the tire places do. Been there done that with the soapy water.

Let it sit. Lots of soap to water ratio. It will bubble with 1lb per hour leak. Done it many times.

ForScan TPMS

Hi

The front and rear tires have different values. You should look at Forscan if you want to adjust the TPMS values. These are the documented options.

3C41 indicates 60 psi front 65 psi rear. First two digits are front, second two are rear. Replace either of those two values with the desired PSI hex equivalent. (28=40 PSI, 2d=45 PSI, 32=50 PSI, 37=55 PSI, 3C=60 PSI, 41=65 PSI, 46=70 PSI, 50=80 PSI)

Forscan can be found at Forscan.org and a full list of available configuration options can be found here:

A thing we used to do was pull the valve core out, then using a squirt oil can, add a cup of anti-freeze and air back up......seals wheels and tires..with no negative affects to high dollar gauge

Until you want to repair the tire. Anti freeze will make the tire unrepairable.
