Trailer shopping

New member, going full time. We have looked at both the Excels & Elite suites.
Took the tour thru DRV factory, trailers from start to finish. But with Peterson Insd. In Kansas that's not an options. We plan on going to open an house at a dealer in Holland Mi. later this month
We just can't decide on a trailer. The truck is not going to be a problem,
06 Volvo 780,or a Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 Laramie long bed, 6speed standard trans.
TIA.

Check out the Heartland Landmark. The factory is in Elkhart IN. The Landmark is the top of the line for Heartland and is warranted for full time use with 2/5 year warranty.

Trailer shopping

Thanks for your replays, I travel quite a bit with my husband, we have a small trucking business. It gave me a lot of seat time to research fifth wheels.
I'd see one that looked interesting, fire up the IPad, at this point I think maybe I should set up a dealership....
We've narrowed it down to these two, now just decide what fits our needs,
Thanks again

Zippos,

I'm not clear what you meant about Peterson Industries tour not being an option. I have toured their plant twice and was able to see their manufacturing process from start to finish. I have a 2012 Excel Wild Cargo.

Hi

A large number of the people involved in the Lifestyle organization are from the old Carriage group.

Seems to me you can not go wrong with either unit. Both are top quality full-time rigs.

When is the open house in Holland ? I was thinking of driving to Grand Rapids to look at the new Holiday Rambler Presidential. Holland is just 2 hrs. from Grand Rapids. Maybe I can see both.

With Peterson Ind. begin in Kanasa, it's not an option for us. We don't get thru that area very often. The open house in Michigan, will be at the Holland Motor
Homes dealership March 22/23. There will be reps from Peterson at this time.
Thanks to everyone for your info.

We've owned our Doubletree (DRV today) Mobile Suites since taking delivery new in August 2004. It's been a good, solid unit with which we're well satisfied - to the extent that we have no interest whatsoever in trading or selling it for any 5th wheel on the market today. Because of its construction, it's easy to heat in the winter and cool in the summer, very quiet inside and has given us no structural problems whatsoever.

Although most heavier full-time 5th wheels come with them today, whatever brand you wind up purchasing, be sure to get the 17.5 inch tires and wheels. The last thing you need to worry about are tire failures of the 16" Goodyear G614 RSTs that came on some of these units.

Thanks, I think we are leaning towards Mobile Suites, and I agree with tire size.
They are standard, Michelin 17.5. Thanks for the info, it's nice to here from an owner.

Mary.

One thing I forgot to mention - our Mobile Suites has never seen Howe, Indiana since the day it was shipped out. It seems from the posts I see here on iRV2 that many 5th wheels and motor homes wind up making numerous trips back to the factory to get bugs worked out, repairs made, etc. I'm not saying that no DRV units ever go back to the factory, just that ours hasn't. There's never been any need to take it there.
