Trailer Stopping Distance
1st test was no trailer and the truck empty. 2nd & 3rd test used a 16,000 lb. trailer, using electric brakes. Canadian Standards Tests show the Titan Disc Brake System stopping a 15,500 lb. trailer in 179 ft. using trailer brakes only. No truck brakes were used in this test.
This 179 ft. is a 100 ft. shorter stopping distance than this test using truck and trailer electric brakes!

I'd have to agree. I have Dexter disc on my 15k+ lb fiver and the brakes are great. Stopping is always consistent just like in your car or truck. Very smooth and strong brakes. I will never tow another fiver without them.

Does any manufacturer put these on their fivers? I have a wish list for my first fifth wheel, and disc brakes are pretty close to the top after how crummy the electric drums are on my TT overall.
Also, will the GM brake controller that came in my GMC work with the disc brakes or do you have to do something different?

They are becoming a factory option on several brands. Current brands that they are standard on include DRV, Luxe, Riverstone, and Jayco Designer. MAYBE standard on Landmark 365. IF not, definitely optional. Also, optional on Lifestyle. Happy shopping

If you are half decent with a wrench or have a friend, the parts will cost you about $1400- $1500 on line. E trl supply.

This should be posted in the vendor section...or new products.
And, comparing tests don't mean a lot unless ALL parameters are identical.
Your figures are good, and I don't doubt them, but let's put the advertising where it is supposed to be.

Last year I replaced all of the undercarriage on our 2007 Excel, 14,000 Lb. with a Dexter 7k system. This included axles, springs, shocks and upgrade to disk brakes. Like others I will never have another RV without disk brakes. Living in the mountain west we do a lots long hard grades and the disk brakes make driving a more relaxed experience. I think some other brands of axle and brakes are good but I preferred the Dexter package.
A friend and myself pulled the old axles out and had the new axles and related gear installed within one day in my driveway. I spend a few more hours running the brake lines, and test driving the rig. If you upgrade to disk brakes make sure you pay attention to brake controller issues and check the wheel lug torque as per the manufacture’s recommendation. I had noticeable torque corrections at 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 miles. After that there's been very little adjustment required, but I do check it every day prior to starting out along with tire pressure. The entire jog cost me under $3,000 for parts and a few new tools.

Will someone please explain where the 179 foot stopping distance is? I don't even see 179 feet in either of the examples. I may have dislexia, but...

The 179 ft. comes from Canadian Standards Testing.
