Truck for pulling a 5th wheel camper.

Looking at a 2010 Chev 2500 Truck with a 6.0 gas engine to pull a 26 or less foot long camper. I like to look at truck's that have never been used to pull cattle trailer's or worse when it comes to weight. The truck will not be used very much. This truck has only 50,000 miles on it and price is 23,000.

Thanks.

Just an FYI - if you can find a 2011 truck it is greatly improved over the 2010. The 2011 Chevy has a much better frame. If you can get a 2010 next to a 2011 and look at the frame you will see a big difference.

What about a 2011 Ford 2500 Truck? My local dealer is selling this truck for 25,000

Yes, the 2011 Ford f250 is a great tow vehicle.

I pulled a 7680 lb 26' 5er with a 2500 chevy 5.7 4.10 gears 4L60 for eight years all over NM/CO/TX/OK/AR/MO/KS. Even double towed with a 18' 3400 lb bass boat with the combo.
The 5.7 engine had a whoppin' 205 hp/300 ft lbs.

The newer 6.0 has plenty of HP/torque for pulling a 26' trailer of any type.

The newer 2500 6.0 trucks will have over 3000 lb capacity for a payload so will cover the pin weight from any 26' trailer.

I also custom haul cattle/horses with a 2500 Dodge/Cummins NV5600 3.73 axle pulling a 36' GN tri axle stock trailer. The truck has over 270k miles now and has had no issues other than tires and one 170 buck lift pump.
I wouldn't worry about a pickup that has hauled horses.

I'd tell you to go to the KBB.com and NADA.com to book the value. Trade in Value is the most I'd ever give on NADA--counting for options.

The gas truck is unfortunately tough on gas when towing, but if you're not towing far it might not be an issue. It's a low mile truck, but not as easy to sell on the used market as if it'd been a Duramax.
