Upgrading from TT to 5TH Wheel

My wife and I have a Dutchman 30' TT. We are thinking of moving to a Montana High Country 355RE, or the Keystone Cougar 315RES. We have a stout 2007 Dodge Ram 2500. Any thoughts on how to get the best deal on the new 5th and trade in on our TT?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I've moved your thread from "iRV2 Issues" here to the fiver forum. The "issues" forum is used to report problems with the web site.

Only way you can cut your losses is to try and sell your TT yourself. If you trade in you will get wholesale value. The dealer will either want to keep it to resell or call around and see what other dealers are willing to pay for it.
If you trade in you will not get the discount on the 5'er. They will want MSRP for the 5'er and give you wholesale for your TT. You will need to come up with the difference if you owe anything on yours.
It's a tough market out there and really tough to up upgrade.
If you're lucky enough to sell yours, then you can get a really good deal on a new one. If you bought yours for dirt cheap you may come out ok. If you bought yours at a high price then plan on coming up with a chunk of change to make a deal.

I got real lucky, put for sale signs on mine while we were at the river, got a few inquiries but mainly conversation starters, so I put my it on Craigslist when I got home and it lasted a whole day before it sold, I found what I wanted but it was 5 hours away (closest one to me was sold already) so I hit the rock bottom price button and they started calling me, I did some research and then told them what I was willing to do including a B&W Companion hitch that I assembled myself when I got there (I'm a dealer so I knew the dealer price and know they didn't make a dime off of it), I found this site after the fact but I was still happy with the deal I made http://www.seedealercost.com/recv
