Used 5th wheel buying.. what to look/check for?

The old HR Presidentials were good trailers. They are heavy and I hope you have enough trcuk to pull it. Being a 2004, make sure you have newer tires and not the originals, check the brakes and wheel bearings. Get on the roof and take a roll of Eternabond tape and seal up everything.

Another thing to do is to check all of the drain and plumbing connections for tightness. Things will work loose over time. Also check the electrical panel to make sure all of the connections are tight.

Don't freak out but around that year and maybe 2005 had delamination problems with the exteriors. Again, a recommendation for a professional to go over it.

Many good suggestions. Having a professional check it out is a good idea. Be sure it is someone with a good rep. Among all the other things mentioned the key things for me are the roof and the wheels, tires, bearings. And, one more thing, see if the person checking can determine the condition of the frame.
