We'll soon replace our old tv and what to install the best (strongest) tv wall mount for our new flat screen. The old one (TV) sat inside a 26"x26" cabinet which was also 26" deep!! I'd like to install the new one (flat screen) to have it fully secured in place - while traveling but also to maximize the space available. All serious suggestions, advice and assistance is warmly welcome. Many tkx. BB

Hi bostonb,
Welcome to iRV2. If you use the "Find" feature (one of the tabs at the top of this thread), choose the advance search, search all forums and search on varations of "mounting flat screen TV" you'll get a bunch of hits. iRV2 has quite a few threads, photos and methods other members have used to mount a flat screen TV.

Good luck and please post photos of your method and results.

bostonb, welcome. In addition to a strong stable wall mount for your flatscreen TV, please consider how stable the back of the TV is. I recently replaced our CRT factory installed Panasonic with a flatscreen and used a very secure wall mount, only to find out the back of the TV had quite a bit give, or flex which allowed to the set to bounce quite a lot when traveling. I found it necessary to support most of the weight of the TV at the bottom.

I had an analog, tube TV in our TV cabinet that was mounted on a pull-out swivel base. I took that out last year and put in a flat screen HDTV. I used the base that came with the TV, drilled a few holes thru it and screwed that base right into the swivel base. No mounting bracket as I do not plan on moving the TV from this spot. It made it out west and back last summer with no issues.

I also mounted a flat screen in the bedroom this way. I plan on changing that to a wall mount so I can put a bracket outside my coach to make it possible to move that TV outside if I desire.

bostonb,

You can find all kinds of mounts here. Apparently my particular unit is no longer available.

The complete install can be seen here.

Good luck,
