Just purchased a Rockwood 8315SS and of course it's winterization time! The water heater is located right past the back rear entrance door and on the inside is right under the box-carpet area between the bed and wall. However, I do not see any way to access the water heater from the inside. The carpet seems to be all one piece and joined to the floor and goes across under the bed. Did not find any screws in the plywood under the box either nor any access in the storage area under the bed nor under the unit. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Are you looking for the bypass valve for the water heater, or are you looking for the water pump? The water pump is probably not located behind your water heater - it could be just about anywhere and should be fairly readily accessible.

Rusty - actually both - looking to get to the water heater bypass AND the water pump which probably is located on the opposite side of the bedroom under the other box-carpet area. The fresh water tank is located under the left rear of the unit. The manual of course being so generic doesn't specify how to access either one. Thanks for the reply!

The easiest way to find the water pump is to put some water in the fresh tank, turn on the water pump and then listen for it. I have had at least 8 trailers, and only the last two had the water pump in the same place (that was probably because the last 2 are the same manufacturer). And there is no guaranty that it will have a sump hose for adding RV antifreeze. You may need to add that.

Additionally, not every trailer comes with a HWH by-pass setup. A lot will require that to be added later. And again, it could be located anywhere in the trailer between the water input and the HWH. You may need to contact the dealer, or the person you bought it from, to find out if your trailer has a by-pass and where it is.

Thanks! Definitely the water heater is left rear past the rear entrance door and waiting to hear from the dealer how to access it from the inside. The water pump may be there as well or on the other side - or somewhere else! Like you said, they're all different. Once I get connected to fresh water I'll turn it on to locate it. Thanks for the reply!

Found how to access it - through the storage area there's a panel held down with screws and behind that "wall" is the water heater and water pump.
