Water Pump Acting Up

Hello all!

I am new here to the forum. This is a pretty nice site.

I have a shurflo water pump in my Jayco. Last night I noticed the power switch was on to it. Then I realized the switch wasn't on, but illuminated. The pump somehow is permanetly on now and I can't get it to shut off. I traced wires and tested the switch I can't figure out why this is happening.

It seems to me that the pump has a pemanent hotwire on it and the switch is completing the ground. I am scratching my head on this one.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Welcome carterw65 to irv2.
Some water pumps have more than one switch. You will find them in your water bay for outside shower, bathroom, kitchen or in your tank display area.
You will have to check locations and shut them off so you have it shut off.
I find that I will put it on in the display area and tell everyone that its on and its not needed for anyone else to do it in the other locations.
When I hook up city water than I will shut it off in display area.
Enjoy the forums and do post often.

Thanks for the reply 007,

In this case there is only one switch and it is at the monitor panel. Even with the switch in the off position it is still lit up. The other two swithes, water heater gas and water heater electric, work properly. I switched the wires to one of those switches and it did the same thing.

I got the wiring schematic from Jayco in an email today. It is just blurred enough for it to not be of help.

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle! Yesterday I was showing a friend all the neat features of the unit to include the outside shower. I decided to look in there again and low and behold there is a pump switch stashed in there virtually out of site. I have never used the shower and didn't think it had a switch. When I closed the door yesterday the shower head pushed against the switch.

Thanks 007!

Just when you think you have things figured out, Murphy's law invokes. Glad you found the other switch 007 suggested.
