Water Regulator Slowing Flow

Hello All,

I am using a high flow in line pressure regulator for our coach. I would like to go to a whole house regulator in the future but money is tight at the moment.

The issue is this: When installed the flow will be fine for a while then drop to 2/3 of flow with an obvious pressure decrease. I can remove it and back flush it and restore flow but sometimes it reoccurs right away, sometimes in a day or two.

No debris is visible when flushed, nothing on the inlet screen. I have used this
regulator in Florida and had issues that were resolved by back flushing. Now that we are in Ohio, not so much.

Any ideas or advise?

Thanks!

Yeah, it looks like I'm not able to resolve the issue with the current regulator. Thanks for the link, I will check it out for sure.

Appreciate the help,
Randy

Randy, did you check your inlet, some manufacturers have a built in regulator on the back side if the inlet. At least there will probably be a check valve there. I have had a case where the check valve was sticking and would not allow free flow. They usually have just a plastic ball check.

Not sure if they wear out or what, but have the same problem with the one I had. Pressure started to fall way off so I replaced it and now it's fine again.

I have found 4 sizes of regulator

1: Standard unit, the same size as a female hose connector, Tubular. May be plastic or brass, restricts flow like you would not believe.

2: High flow. same as above but either has "Wings" to help tighten (Camco) or a bright plastic grip on the female end (other makes) Also restricts flow.

3: Sur Flo.. This is the standard regulator used on rigs that have one installed as part of the city water inlet,,, Some restriction, not as much as the others.

Watts (or Valterra) 1/2 inch or larger, NO RESTRICTION.

IN addition if you have a filter.. IT may add more restriction.

Proper hook up

Park-Regulator----long hose---filter-short hose-rig

My hook up

Park--(optional pre-regulator (Watts set to like 60 PSI)--Long hose-filter-regulator-short hose-rig. This seems to work best, but I still have issues with the SurFlo in-line limiting things a bit.
