Since I don't know - - I will treat this as a "guessing game"

Were you planning on elevating the suspension on your RV ?
( as in new mounts for spring hangers )

Come on now no one else is going to guess.
OK they are Leland engineering fix to a problem that they don't have, so they say. This is the first one that broke on the right rear this was 5 years ago.

This is the FIX for this one Right Rear.

Now I have another one this one is on the right front axle it is cracked all the way down one side. I found it before it broke all the way off like the other one.

I don't know if you can see the crack in the photo or not it is a brown line just above the spring hanger.

The fix for the right front.

This is two for me and I know of two more trailers that had the same thing happen.

Hi Tom,

Wow, that looks really bad and a serious problem. Glad you caught it before the axle assembly fell off on the highway. From studying the photo, looks like the frame thickness gauge might be a little on the thin side. What do you think?

Bet it's a Lippert frame.

It is less than 1/8 inch I think it is a lot too thin.

And that is the standard Sunnybrrok 5th wheel frame? (which they have the audacity to brag is the strongest in the industry???)
That's an eye opener for sure! Glad no one got hurt as a result.
Think i saw this post on RVnet as well and thought i was looking at a trailer.

This problem isn't necessarily indicative of the strength of a frame in terms of bending or torsional strength. One or more rectangular steel tube box sections can be quite strong in bending and torsion with minimal wall thickness.

The "sin" here, if any exists, is that the shackle attachments impose pullout forces on the rectangular tube. Doublers to strengthen the tube and to spread out the load should have been used.

This is a TT not a 5 wheel.

On the 02 they put a 1" by 2" steel tube that is 1/8" thick under the frame that goes from the front hanger all the way back to the third hanger and then put the hangers on this.
