What type of hitch is this?

Hi folks,

I've been pulling a TT for over 15 years but I'm a newbie to the 5th wheel game. Thus, all kinds of questions. And this forum has been great! Thank you to all.

This hitch came with my truck when I bought it but haven't had to use it. Can anyone tell me anything about it (make, model, weight class)? It has no decals nor markings. Also, the yellow handled rod came with it but it doesn't appear to attach to anything.

I'm looking at TH's and need to know if I should plan on replacing the hitch. (If I did this right, the attachment should appear. If not, well.... I'll try again...)

TIA...

Keith

I don't recognize it except to say it is not a Reese. The handles probably connected with cotter pins and are used to open/close the jaws. You might want to take a look at the rail mount Andersen Ultimate hitch as a replacement.
Robot Check

Here is a video to show how it works:

I had that exact hitch around 1998 or so. I think it was a Pull Rite, don't remember exactly. It is a solid hitch. Mine was rated at 25,000 lbs. It was a brute. They had a similar hitch rated around 18,000 lbs. It has a sliding bar that locks in the King Pin. You might need to lube the moving parts. The Yellow handled rod is used to 'un hitch'. Inserts through the metal loop to get leverage. Since it is already on your truck, I'd just leave it.

Thank you very much! After checking out Pullright, it definitely is a "Super 5th". Rated at max of 25.5k with a max king pin weight of 6,375. I've got some reading to do this weekend but it appears that I should be able to use this for any TH that my truck can handle (6.8L F350 CC LB SRW with 4.30 gears)... Man, that's a lot of typing...I better get my signature created soon so I don't have to keep re typing that

Thanks again guys!

Keith

PS. I looked for the "I'll buy you guys a beer next time I see you" emoticon but couldn't find one. Maybe a recommendation from the new guy?
