Where to mount bed plug?

I bought a bed plug for my (not yet owned) 5th wheel and was ready to mount it until I thought.....where should I put this? It has a 9' cord so I could put it anywhere but after thinking about it, would it be better to be back by the tailgate for easy reaching or would it be better to be more up by the cab so I dont have to reach under the trailer? I figured someone would have an opinion.

Back of the bed, driver's side (same side as the leveling switches on the 5th wheel), within easy reach over a dropped tailgate. Before drilling, be sure you have clearance between the bed walls for the length of the 7-blade receptacle you'll be installing. Plug it in as you're backing under the trailer before it's hitched up.

Good logic. I didn't think about needing to plug in the trailer as I'm not fully hooked up to it yet. Thank you.

If you plug it in as soon as the trailer's umbilical cord will reach the receptacle, you can probably still stand up fairly straight and not have to squeeze under the overhang of the 5th wheel. It's a lot easier that way.

Here's how I did it: Umbilical cord hook up - iRV2.com RV Photo Gallery

This allows it to be reached without messing with the tailgate or crawling in under the rig. Be sure not to put so far forward as to prevent the umbilical cord from extending to far when turning. You can buy a bracket for mounting it, a couple of self tapping screws vs drilling bigger holes.

Also note the hookup for our breakaway cable makes hooking it up very easy and attached the vehicle not the hitch and many do. Again it must be placed so and not to stretch and activate the breakaway switch when turning the tow vehicle.
