The Newmars with the dual wheel dual axle had 2 10k axles and to me that seems better than 3 7k axles ..... I know equipment trailers with 2 10k's with duals (235/85/16) tow good

But I agree on the smaller trailers to have 2 3.5k,5k,6k or 7k just when it gets to 3 axles I would think there would be alot of drag on turns

D.O.T. has a max axle wt in each state ca. is 18k per axle no matter nunber of tires.

As others have said, better weight distribution over a larger area with tandem axles but also alot more latteral stability for sway control.
