Winterize by Vacuum?

I was getting ready to winterize using low pressure compressed air and I had a co-worker tell me he's been using a wet/dry vac to winterize his rv. He says he creates a seal around various drains and operates all associated valves, then dumps rv antifreeze in the traps.

Anyone heard of this method?

Where is he attaching the wet/dry vac to? Is he trying to pull the water through the city water hookup?

Only place I'd think to use a wet-vac would be to clean a P trap to avoid diluting the strength of the plumbing A/F , and I'd have to be expecting EXTREME cold to do that.

JMHO: Stick to your plan and use compressed air (30 PSI) and remove the 12 volt pump to store it inside at home , because with no RV anti freeze in it , even running it dry may not be enough to protect it from freezing. Blow back to the fresh tank, from the pump connection, to be sure its drained.

He was attaching to the drains under the rv.

I hope he was not hooking the vacuum to the dump hose!

I use 45 lbs of air. City water pressure is about that so the extra pressure and volume may blow more of the water in any low points out.
