Hi All, I just found this site, what a great resource! I just have a couple questions about 5th wheels if you don't mind. My father and I belong to a Sportsmans club in Western PA, there are a couple acres allocated to a "trailer park" so to speak. That is a spot for members to place travel trailers (permanently) so they can stay overnight. We have a spot that will fit up to a 38ft trailer and need something that can handle the harsh winters we have along with the spring rain we get here. We are looking at 5th wheels with 3 and 4 slides.

Do any of you have tips on "weather-proofing" or any other suggestions for me?

Are you going to be living in the 5er or will it be stored there? The answer will change what you need to do, in winter.

Welcome to the group Greenblaz.

Most motorhomes are not meant to live in during winter but I do know that people have managed to fix their MH to live in the winter.

Thanks guys! Yes, we plan on staying there for a couple weeks in the winter for hunting season. We had a slightly used travel trailer that only lasted a couple years before the windows and vents started to leak. I know the situation is NOT ideal but we are bound by the rules of the club {needs to have wheels attached for insurance reasons}. We have tried heavy duty silicon around the windows and vents but I think that it was too late.

In the winter when it is not in use we plan on covering it with a tarp {this makes it easy to remove the snow off the roof}

You might want to look for a used Teton 5vr. Construction workers ofter live in these full time to work in Alaska. Very FEW rigs are designed for all season use.

Hi all, thanks again for the feedback. After much thought and research we ended up going with a Keystone Alpine 5er with the works including the Alps package which includes triple insulation and heated ducts to the tanks and water system.
