Our fifth wheel is prewired for a generator, but we do not have one. I have purchased portable generators that I would like to leave in the truck bed. Our electric plug in is at the very rear of the trailer. Has anyone had the wiring worked so they could plug in at the spot where the generator would normally go, that way I could run a short cord from the truck to the generator compartment. Anyone do this? Seems like it would be running 50 foot of line. Thanks,

Yes, search for DonWSIT posts and send him a private message. He displayed his wiring mods at the 2004 national rally.

If you do this, either you will need to have it so that you disconnect your 'rear' cord and connect the 'front' cord, or you will need to use a 'transfer switch' (which is what I planned to do before getting rid of the trailer, even got the transfer switch and wiring).
If you just connect the wires together, then when the generator is running there will be full voltage on the pins of your normal electrical cord, which could be very disconcerting if grabbed by anyone.

Prin,
Have you gotten the info you want? The "generator prep" package includes a transfer switch.
I've done what you want, let me know & I will send directions.
Dave
